Andrea Settles

If you want to know about Sandy Springs – Andrea is your person. She is on the board of Leadership Sandy Springs, is part of the Sandy Springs Fire Corp and on the City’s Planning Commission serving a four year term. She enjoys being at the new Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center where she ushers for plays and concerts. She makes her living in between all her civic activities as a Commercial Mortgage Originator . She is the queen of networking and loves connecting people.

What inspired you or led to your current career? I had a background in banking with small community banks and actually helped start two of them. I became a liaison between the financing institution and the buyer with First National Bank of Atlanta. I was let go during a restructure and was asked to join my current company by the principal of the Commercial Mortgage brokerage and here I am.

What is something unique about you? Two things…I am a news junkie. My most fun “star” moment was when  John Belushi pulled me up on stage to dance with him at the Blues Brothers concert.

Choosing anyone alive or past – who would you like to have lunch with? Any President of the United States. I would love to find out what they know.

If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be? I do not like to travel. I am right where I want to be. I love the diversity of opportunities in Sandy Springs for getting involved and giving back to the community.

What is your favorite movie? On Golden Pond

Where do you see yourself in 5 or 10 years? Still living here at least part time doing more volunteer things that interest me and having more time for my girlfriends.. Spending time in California where my son & daughter-in-law are after they make me a grandmother and maybe in Florida for part of the year for my husband.

What advice would you give to people? First be a better listener. Then get involved & engaged, find something you can connect with beside work and make your own mark. I try to give this advice to my own daughter.

What words come to mind when you think of the word home? My happy place, easy & comfortable

Debbie Soneshine of The Sonenshine Teamwould love your Faces nominations.
