Catherine Lautenbacher

Meet Catherine, a get it done kind of girl, who was born in Italy and both her parents were in the Navy so they moved every 2 years. She herself is an engineer and was an Intelligence Officer in the Air Force.

What inspired you or led to your current career? After her two children were in school she became involved in the community as a volunteer with the Community Assistance Center. CAC encouraged her to go through the Leadership Sandy Springs program. She felt a shift in her life when she realized if she belonged to a community every door opened. She is now employed by LSS as their Program Director.

How long have you lived and or worked in Sandy Springs? I moved to Atlanta area in 2000. My home is actually two blocks in to Dunwoody but my life is centered in Sandy Springs.

Who is the most interesting person you have met here? Carolyn Axt and Tamara Carrera are my role models. They inspire me to not be content to just live somewhere but to make a difference in the community where you live.

What is your favorite movie? Going with my son to see Goodbye Girl

Choosing anyone alive and a non-relative with whom would you like to have lunch? Brian Stephenson – Founder of Lynching Memorial and author of ‘Just Mercy’ book

What is on your bucket list? Go to all the major Tennis Tournaments around the world

What makes you happy? Coming from no sense of community growing up to now working to build a better community makes me happy

What is something unique about you or that has happened to you? I got to fly in an F-16 – coolest thing ever!

What advice would you give to people? Get involved in your community. It makes you happier to focus on something outside yourself

What words come to mind when you think of the word home? Warm, Cats, Comfortable, Family & Good Food
