Dan FitzSimons

If you want to improve the quality of your life this is the man to see.

What inspired you or led to your current career?
I come from a very athletic family and always loved sports and being fit. After teaching and coaching in public schools for ten years I made my way south (21 years ago) and made an easy transition to personal training, which I still love! Having my own personal training studio has been a dream realized.

How long have you lived or worked in Sandy Springs?
Since I left Connecticut 21 years ago I have basically worked here in Sandy Springs.  I moved to Alpharetta for about five years but moved back here with my wife Tracy and stepson Matt, 12 years ago.

Who is the most interesting person you have met here?
I hate to leave anyone out.  My clients are awesome, and I have met thousands of interesting people over these 21 years.  In all honesty, my wife Tracy. She’s pretty incredible.

What is something unique about you?
I am glad you’re not asking my friends this question about me! Seriously,  I believe we all have incredible potential, physically and mentally. I also believe that the majority of people don’t see it that way and have the perception that their abilities are limited.  Over time people lose confidence, or desire and just say, “I can’t”. My job is to help people see their potential in the physical realm. this eventually transfers to other areas of their life. My personal goal is to try hard, work hard and do as much as possible for as long as possible!

Choosing anyone alive or past – who would you like to have lunch with?
Anyone really, with a sense of humor!  I love food and good company.

What is your favorite movie?
“Patton”.  I saw it when I was very young and it left a huge impression on me.

Where do you see yourself in 5 or 10 years?
Living in the mountains – Highlands? – working out and enjoying the great outdoors.

What is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I am a bit of mushball. I get so happy and proud of other people’s accomplishments, you will often see me cry.

What is your favorite thing?
Being outside! From yard work, hiking, biking, swimming to laying on the beach!

What advice would you give to people?
There isn’t anything in the world more important than being fit. You can’t enjoy life to the fullest if you’re not fit. So if we are lucky enough to live a long life, we should work hard now so we can enjoy it!

What words come to mind when you think of the word home?
Family, Comfort, Fun, Great Food, Love, Tracy, Matt, and Brinkley
